Corporate History



Kushiro Brake develops, produces and sells brake linings, disc pads and other automotive parts that meet ever-increasing demands in the commercial vehicle industry.
Our brake linings, which have been developed along with advance in automobile performance, must now meet
even stricter safety and economic requirements to respond to changes in the transportation environment.
Furthermore, in recent years, concern about global environmental protection has accelerated the demand
for non-polluting materials and new substances that do not harm the natural environment.
Always seeking to respond to user needs and sharing their desire to protect the global environment,
we are leading the way toward the future.
Our proactive stance has been the same since our foundation as a business. At Kushiro Brake,
we strive to develop new materials and new technologies, and we will continue to pioneer

1932 Mar.   The late Daigoro lmada established Kushiro Asbestos Works.
1934 Jun.  * The late Naozo Hayatsu established Yashima Auto Parts Co., Ltd.
1935 Apr.  *  Business started with Tokyo Gas Electric Engineering Co., Ltd.(the fomer Hino Motors, Ltd.)
1942 May.   Business started with Hino Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.(currently Hino Motors, Ltd.)
1948 Jun.  *  Incorporated into Yashima Trading Co., Ltd. capitalized at 1 million yen.
Oct.   Business started with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Mizushima Aircraft Manufacturing (currently Mitsubishi Motors Corporation) for tricycle truck parts.
1955 Feb.   Incorporated into Kushiro Asbestos Industry, Ltd., capitalized at 5 million yen.
1965 Apr.   Business started with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Tokyo Motor Vehicle Manufacturing (currently Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation) for heavy-duty truck parts.
Jun.  *  Established Kushiro Asbestos Sales Co., Ltd. capitalized at 1 million yen.
1966 Oct.   Mihara Factory and Kushiro Laboratory completed in Osaka.
1969 Jan  * Opened Osaka Sales Office.
1970 Apr.  * Opened Fukuoka Sales Office.
1971 Aug.   Business started with Isuzu Motors Limited.
1973 Jun.   Name changed to Kushiro Brake Industrial Co., Ltd.
Jun.  *  Name changed to Kushiro Brake Sales Co., Ltd.
1975 Nov.  * Opened Sapporo Sales Office.
1981 Apr.  * Opened Nagoya Sales Office.
1987 Aug.  * Concluded a special sales agent contract with Sumitomo Electric Industries and started sales of Disc Pad.
1988 Aug.   Business started with Nissan Diesel Motor Co., Ltd.(currently UD Trucks Corporation) for assembly products.
1990 Aug.  * Distribution Center was built in Sagamihara-shi, Kanagawa Prefecture and moved from the head office building.
1991 Jun.   Concluded a technical assistance contract with Sumitomo Electric Industries for disc pad production.
1993 May.   Shimane Daito Factory was built in Daito-cho,Unnan-shi, Shimane Prefecture.
Started mass-production of disc brake pads at the Shimane Daito Factory.
1997 Apr.   Merged with Kushiro Brake Sales Co., Ltd. and established Kushiro Brake Co., Ltd. capitalized at 200 million yen.
2003 Aug.   Certified ISO 14001.
2004 Aug.   Certified ISO 9001.
2008 Apr.   Business started with Mando Corporation (Korea) for Daimler group.
2009 Jan.   Business started with Brembo S.p.A. (Italy) for Daimler group.
